Program Overview
What is the Equine Total Care program?
Equine Total Care (ETC) is concierge-style horse wellness membership or a subscription for your horses health! $75/month covers your horse’s annual vaccines, wellness exams, coggins, dewormers, lab work, $0 farm calls, and more. In addition to bundled services, you’ll have access to our concierge that handles wellness reminders and scheduling. Wellness programs are common in small animal practice; Equine Total Care is the first of its kind preventative healthcare plan for equines.
Is this the same as equine insurance?
No, ETC is not insurance. It’s a wellness membership that covers routine preventive care. We recommend maintaining separate equine insurance for accidents, injuries, and major medical procedures. Think of ETC as your horse’s “health maintenance plan” that keeps them healthy and helps prevent more serious issues.
What makes ETC different from just scheduling regular vet visits?
ETC goes beyond just veterinary visits. You get a dedicated concierge service that handles all scheduling and reminders, bundled pricing that saves money, $0 farm calls, and a proactive approach that keeps your horse’s health on track year-round. Its veterinary care made simple.
How does this compare to traditional veterinary care?
Traditional veterinary care typically involves paying for each service individually, plus farm call fees that can range from $50-100 per visit. With ETC, you get all your routine wellness services bundled into one predictable monthly fee, eliminating farm call charges and providing significant savings on preventive care.
Getting Started & Enrollment
How do I enroll my horse in Equine Total Care?
Getting started is simple! Contact our team to schedule your horse’s ETC Onboarding Exam with Performance Equine Vets. During this comprehensive visit, we’ll establish your horse’s baseline health and discuss their specific needs. From there, our concierge team takes care of scheduling all future wellness visits and reminders.
What happens during the ETC Onboarding Exam?
Your horse’s onboarding exam is a thorough wellness evaluation that establishes their health baseline and gets them started in the program. Our veterinarian will perform a complete physical examination, review your horse’s medical history, discuss their lifestyle and specific needs, and create a customized wellness schedule.
How long does it take to get my horse enrolled?
Once you contact us, we can typically schedule your horse’s onboarding exam within 1-2 weeks, depending on availability. Your horse is officially enrolled and covered under the program immediately following payment.
Can I add additional veterinary services during the ETC Onboarding Exam?
Absolutely! You can add extra services during your onboarding exam, subject to time availability.

Are dental exams or dental work included?
Dental procedures like floating or extractions are not covered under the base program and would be billed separately at standard rate
Farm Calls & Service Areas
What qualifies for a free farm call?
Equine Total Care covers the cost of farm calls, as long as the visit meets the following criteria: (1) The location is within a 30-minute drive of Performance Equine Vets and (2) The appointment is scheduled during regular business hours. Covered services include ETC onboarding exam, veterinary examinations for a specific condition, and euthanasia of an enrolled horse. If you’re unsure whether a visit qualifies, just contact the ETC team — we’re happy to help clarify.
What if my farm is more than 30 minutes away?
If your farm is located between 30 minutes and 1 hour from Performance Equine Vets, you’ll receive one complimentary farm call each spring or fall for wellness services. This visit can cover vaccinations, Coggins testing, bloodwork, and more.
Do emergencies qualify for free farm calls?
Yes, emergency farm calls during normal business hours (9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday) and within 30 minutes of the clinic are included. After-hours emergency visits and farm calls beyond the 30-minute radius will incur additional fees.
Do you have plans to expand beyond Aiken, SC?
Yes! While we’re currently focused on serving the Aiken area exceptionally well, Sporthorse has plans to partner with qualified veterinary practices across the country to bring Equine Total Care to horse owners nationwide. Stay tuned for updates on expansion to your area.
Scheduling & Reminders
What are wellness reminders?
Wellness reminders are automated, personalized alerts sent to horse owners and the ETC team to schedule and complete necessary preventative care. Wellness reminders are a key feature of ETC to keep you on track with your horse’s routine wellness care.
How far in advance are wellness visits scheduled?
Our concierge team typically schedules wellness visits 2-4 weeks in advance and sends you confirmation reminders. This advance planning ensures we can accommodate your schedule while staying on track with your horse’s wellness timeline.
What if I need to reschedule a wellness visit?
Life happens! Simply contact our team, and we’ll work with you to reschedule within a reasonable timeframe. We understand that weather, travel, and other factors can affect scheduling, and our concierge service is designed to be flexible.
Can I request a specific veterinarian?
While we can’t guarantee a specific veterinarian for every visit, we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences when possible. All of our Performance Equine Vets team members are experienced with the ETC program and familiar with your horse’s care plan.
Virtual Services
What are online veterinary consultations?
Online veterinary consultations are virtual appointments where you can discuss your horse’s health concerns with a veterinarian via video or phone. They offer convenient, timely advice without needing an in-person visit—perfect for quick questions or follow-ups.
How do I book an online veterinary consultation?
First, complete your ETC Onboarding Exam. Once that’s done, you can easily schedule your online veterinary consultation by filling out a virtual workup form. Performance Equine Vets will reach out to schedule.
Account Management
Can I cancel?
Equine Total Care subscriptions are intended to be a year-long commitment and are non-cancellable except under special circumstances. Cancellations are only permitted:
- In the event of the death of the horse, or
- Under exceptional situations approved by ETC team. We understand that life with horses can be unpredictable, so if something unusual arises, you’re always welcome to reach out. Our team is happy to review on a case-by-case basis
Can I transfer my subscription to another horse?
Yes — subscription transfers are possible and handled on a case-by-case basis. We’ll work with you to ensure a smooth transition and to make sure the new horse receives appropriate onboarding and care continuity under the program. Just reach out to the ETC team and we’ll guide you through the process.
